What is it like to live in poverty, struggling every day to stay healthy,
keep out of debt, and get educated?
Find out now in this challenging role playing game created by the High School
students in Global Kids with the game developers at Gamelab, in which you take
responsibility for a family of five in rural Haiti.
The game takes place over four years, divided into sixteen seasons. At the beginning of the season, you give each family member a role, including work, school, or volunteering. Once every character is assigned to a role, click "START SEASON" to start the season.
During the course of the season, the characters perform their assigned roles. Situations will occasionally appear which change the conditions of the job, and lead you to have them work hard or work casually. Special events will also occasionally pop up that affect the family's fortunes.
Each member of the family has a set of statistics.
Wellness - General health.
Happiness - Emotional well-being.
Education - Current education.
The family also has a money total. The money is spent on school tuition, living conditions, and items in the store. Running out of money means running out of food, and bad conditions for the whole family.
Try to keep the family healthy and happy for all four years. If both parents die, the game is over. If they survive, your success is measured in the education your family got. The more baccalaureates in your family, the better you did. Bon chans!
