Play a Tetris-style game and learn French, German, Spanish or Swedish!
Selingua Columns is similar to the Tetris-like game Columns, but uses words
instead of colors. Pieces fall down from the top - you rotate the pieces and try
to match words that mean the same thing. Three good-looking skins are included.
The word lists contain more than 2000 words in each language.
It is possible to run Selingua Columns with your own wordlists, instead of
the built-in lists.
Selingua is a vocabulary training program with extensive built-in
dictionaries -- more than 2000 words in each of the following languages: English
(both American and British), German, Spanish, French
and Swedish. The program can be used by native
speakers of any of these languages since the user can choose the language of the
on-screen instructions.
There are six different exercises for practicing vocabulary and verb
inflections, including a crossword exercise. Users can also add their own words
to the dictionaries.
Version 5.2 of Selingua was released in April 2006. In the new version, you can
copy and paste word lists between Excel and the Selingua Dictionary Editor.
Descriptions of all exercises in Selingua.
Selingua is suitable for both beginners, intermediate learners and advanced
learners.
Selingua received the 1997
Ziff-Davis Shareware Award for the Best Program for Secondary and Adult
Education.
A version
of the original Columns game, where you match up colors, is also included.
