  Dimenxian™ is an educational video game based upon first person action adventure formats. Since it contains a very high-end 3-dimensional virtual world, it features an immersive learning environment that encourages exploration, engagement, and achievement.
The graphics, sound, and animation compare positively to features found
in some of today’s most popular video games, while allowing students to
learn material critical to passing high stakes exams. Dimenxian is
designed with one purpose in mind: Any student who can complete the
game will pass their state algebra exam.
Its educational philosophy is based on experiential learning in which users learn through interaction and involvement. But then it becomes very clear, and I for one, was pretty darn impressed. You plot and graph and all kinds of normally boring stuff, but it is much more interesting in context of the game. Not to mention that instead of dry formulas, the math makes sense in the game.
At no point is it ever "Oh wow, fun!". But it is definitely "Oh, wow, interesting". And it helps in the "I get it now" department. Very inventive way to explain tricky concepts. |
